TATA.ev Mega Charger

Marking World EV Day, Tata Power and Tata Motors jointly inaugurated a major new addition to Mumbai’s electric mobility landscape—a co-branded Mega EV Charging Hub located near Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The facility was formally opened by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, and Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.

Strategic Airport Location to Serve Mumbai’s Expanding EV Community

Situated within the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel, the new TATA.ev MegaCharger hub has been positioned with deliberate intent. Its location near one of India’s busiest airports allows it to cater to a wide spectrum of EV users—from private car owners and airport taxi operators to ride-hailing fleets, logistics vehicles, hotel guests, and business travelers.

The hub is designed to support the heavy mobility demands of the Andheri–BKC–South Mumbai corridor, one of the city’s most active business zones, while also serving tourists and frequent flyers who increasingly rely on electric transport options.

One of Mumbai’s Largest and Fastest Charging Stations

The MegaCharger hub is equipped with eight high-speed DC chargers capable of delivering up to 120 kW. With 16 charging bays, the facility can power 16 EVs at the same time, making it one of Mumbai’s largest fast-charging installations.

This multi-vehicle capacity aims to significantly reduce congestion and waiting times, ensuring smooth charging even during peak traffic and airport rush hours. The hub further reinforces Tata Power’s expanding charging network, which already includes 1,000+ green charging points across Mumbai.

Tata Power Reaffirms Commitment to Green Energy Infrastructure

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, highlighted the holistic approach behind the new hub.

“The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we roll out similar hubs in major cities, Tata Power remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering clean energy solutions and accelerating large-scale EV adoption across the country.”

Tata Motors Calls it a Milestone in India’s EV Expansion

Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., emphasized the significance of this joint initiative in accelerating nationwide EV adoption.

“Tata Motors has been at the forefront of India’s EV revolution – not only by delivering world-class electric vehicles, but also by supporting the development of a strong charging ecosystem. Our long-standing partnership with Tata Power has been instrumental in incubating and scaling India’s EV charging ecosystem. The inauguration of this TATA.ev MegaCharger – the first of many such joint installations – is a significant milestone in our mission to grow widespread, fast and reliable charging infrastructure in India. We look forward to scaling this partnership further to empower EV owners across India.”

A Model for India’s Future EV Infrastructure

With this new charging hub, Tata Motors and Tata Power are signaling a new phase of collaborative infrastructure expansion that blends strategic placement, renewable energy, and high-capacity charging technology. As more hubs of this scale roll out nationwide, they are expected to become key anchors for India’s rapidly growing electric mobility ecosystem.
